Spa Director


Job Description


Department:            Administration                                                                                       Status:                   Exempt

Position:        Spa Director                                                                                    


Place of work:             Spa, Salon, or Fitness Center


Job Overview:             Primary responsibility is to provide leadership, direction and supervision of staff in the daily operations of the Spa, including, but not limited to, retail, salon, yoga/fitness programs, and membership program. The Spa Director is to oversee the coordination of all guests’

                                    requests, be directly involved in budgeting, forecasting, payroll and scheduling as well as product inventory and ordering 


Reports To:                   Owner, Managing Director

Guest Relationships:

            Internal:           Spa, Salon, Yoga/Fitness Center, Spa Boutique, Housekeeping, Engineering, Accounting, Purchasing and Reception


            External:           Guests, visitors, members (if applicable), service company personnel and vendors


Specifications:             Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will posses the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.


                                    Some requirements might exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to themselves, other employees or the guest.


Essential:          1.    College degree or equivalent experience

2.       Accounting and budgeting knowledge

3.       Strong communication skills

4.       Proven leadership qualities

5.       Minimum 3 years experience in Spa management (at least one year in a Director level position)


Desirable:        1.    Extensive computer knowledge and computer applications

2.       Fitness and/or Salon experience, Hospitality experience

3.       Spa Management Certification

4.       Excellent communication skills

5.       Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing employment

6.       Public speaking knowledge and experience



Essential:          1.    Ability to motivate and train staff

2.       Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision

3.       Ability to work cohesively with all Spa areas & co-workers as part of a team

4.       Ability to schedule various services for individuals and large groups

5.       Ability to guest speak about the Spa, its concepts and services

6.       Retail purchasing and inventory

7.       Ability to focus attention on details

8.       Flexibility in schedule

9.       Ability to follow budgetary guidelines
